About

  • APDW is the brand new project from Italy’s Matteo Esse and Sant, who in their six years as a team have worked with names including DJ Pierre and Armand Van Helden as well as released records for labels including the legendary Manifesto. As already quoted by Kris Needs in DMC Update “they have obviously dunked themselves in steaming vats of classic Detroit techno and modern cutting-edge foragers like Radio Slave but, crucially, emerge with a sound of their own.” As already reviewed in the World leading dance music press including Djmag and Mixmag, the APDW sound is a cross-genring old school (analog) meets new school (digital) ensemble with no boundaries full on “Warm, multi-layered grooves... Grunting trouser-beats and extra-terrestrial melodies... Gorgeous intertwining synth-swells... Heavenly synth melodies... Subterranean pulses that echo the timeless techno sound of the last decade... Malevolent bass and intricate percussion before spacey melodies... Hallucingenic space-jazz techno... Throbbing, elastic-bassed hypno-groove... A barrage of riffs and classical-tinged melodies...” While making their debut E.P. on Fatboy Slim’s Southern Fried imprint, APDW have hurled out tunes (such as “The Envelope Of Life” featured in Max Graham “Cycles” compilation on Armada and “Before The Wind” featured in Nick Warren “Lima” album on Global Underground) and mixes (for Armand Van Helden “Ski Hard” and Richard Dinsdale “Walkies”) which received support from the likes of Ben Watt, Funk D’Void, DJ Hell, Laurent Garnier and Sasha to name but a few and marked them as a pair to watch. Keep your ears peeled for their forthcoming single “Rose Rouge” - “a brilliant remake of the St Germain classic” as already quoted by Pete Tong, which as well as absolutely huge support from DJ Sneak, Radio Slave, Luciano and Locodice, Way Out West, Tommie Sunshine and Mark Knight at the Miami WMC last March, has been already hitting the Buzz Chart and the Cool Cuts Chart in Music Week.
