10 years ago the name “Hardware” exploded over a crowd of 200 people at a New Year’s Eve warehouse rave in 1991. Today the name is synonymous with pioneering electronic music in Australia, and the company’s inspired endeavours have spawned a colossal collection of dance parties and festivals, a record shop, distribution service and 5 years ago marked the beginning of the prolific “Hardware Label”.
The Hardware series of releases have endeavoured to capture the spirit and vibe of Hardware dance events. Not only have these CDs featured DJ mixes by some of our best local lads but a number of international guests including Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin and Thomas Schumacher, have also bestowed their fine work upon the Hardware label.
In 2002 and beyond the Hardware Label is set to diversify and broaden its musical spectrum with unmixed compilations and mix-CDs due out by various prominent local house, jazz and lounge selectors, including DJs Kano and Ennio Styles. Also keep your ears tuned for the latest Hardware Flagship instalment and special projects from some eminent international artists.
