  • When it comes to dance music, Nicole Moudaber has been around the block. Today she's revered the world over as one of techno's top performers, but her transition into the spotlight is only part of the story. A trance-head in her early teens, she claims she fell in love with house music overnight, watching Danny Tenaglia weave his magic at the Tunnel in New York. From there she started promoting, first in post-war Beirut, where she was instrumental in building the region's first electronic scene, and later in London. Her stint at the UK capital's now-defunct Turnmills, running the Soundworx room at one of the city's biggest club nights, The Gallery, was the kind of hands-on education most artists never receive. But it wasn't until several years later, following a prolonged period away from running parties, that she felt the urge to reconnect with music and have a crack at becoming an artist. In the short time since, she's established herself as one of Ibiza's biggest draws, collaborated with Skunk Anansie's Skin and set up her own popular record label, Mood Records. Moudaber discussed all this and more with Carlos Hawthorn when she dropped by our London office recently.
