  • Martijn Deykers has seen it all. He was an important figure in the Dutch drum & bass scene, until he slowed down the tempo and unwittingly became a pioneering force in the crossover between dubstep and techno. Since then, he's settled into an all-encompassing, classy brand of club music that reflects his decades-long expertise in both production and DJing, releasing albums for Brainfeeder and Ninja Tune as well as forging on with his own 3024 imprint. He's also discovered the art of collaboration, including an ongoing partnership with Steffi as Doms & Deykers, where his remarkable adaptability comes to the fore. That diversity has become Martyn's biggest draw, and over his 20 years in dance music he's become a reliable party-starter. Meeting up at Together Festival in Boston, we talked about what it means to stay relevant in dance music, among other things—like becoming a parent, living in America and standing up for social issues.
