  • For Soul Clap, the last five years have been extraordinary. Known to their friends as Eli Goldstein and Charlie Levine, the Boston duo were catapulted to stardom in 2010 thanks to a combination of factors. There was their fun-loving DJ style, which combined low-slung house with pop, funk and R&B. There was their partnership with Wolf + Lamb, which pushed both duos forward and gave us a rare double-disc DJ-Kicks mix. And there were those notorious edits, which made DJ weapons out of pop songs by Laid Back and Jamie Foxx. By now Soul Clap have reached an interesting new phase in their career. Their touring schedule has relaxed a bit, and they're spending a lot of time in the studio. Later this year, they'll release a record with funk legend George Clinton, one of their all-time heroes. On a recent afternoon at our office in Berlin, Will Lynch talked with Levine and Goldstein about where they came from, and where they might be headed.
