Amsterdam's CLUB RAUM is finally opening its doors next month.
The venue broke the news on Instagram yesterday, March 27th, confirming that it will host a launch party on April 19th and 20th. "Today we share the exciting news that after months of complicated bureaucratic setbacks, we're finally opening our doors," the post read. "This couldn't have been possible without the endless support from you, our community." The lineup for the opening weekend is TBA.
CLUB RAUM initially planned to open last October, but was forced to postpone after failing to receive the necessary permits from local authorities in time. Speaking to Resident Advisor at the time, CLUB RAUM cofounder Sven Bijma suggested that there were homophobic undertones to the district's objections.
"They think that crowds from other nearby businesses—such as the weed coffee shop down the street—could potentially clash with people attending CLUB RAUM because of the way they dress," he said. "It's absolutely ridiculous."
