London's Studio 338 reveals new residencies from R&S, Rinse FM and more

- London's Studio 338 has announced three new quarterly residencies and a new direction for its programming. R&S Records will debut its residency, In Order To Dance, at the Greenwich club on August 24th. The opening party will see sets from Surgeon, Actress, Shed, Space Dimension Controller, Machine Woman and more, including label cofounder Renaat Vandepapeliere. "When we restarted the R&S label in 2007, we moved the base from Ghent, Belgium, to London, so it's the perfect city for us to see the team's hard work come to life," Vandepapeliere said. "The outdoor terrace and large indoor space at Studio 338 give us a unique opportunity to present a varied lineup from afternoon to sunrise." Another new residency, Strange Places, will showcase "music which can't be put into boxes," according to the venue. It will begin on July 27th with Seth Troxler, Eris Drew, Powder, rRoxymore, re:ni and more set to play. Rinse FM's residency will follow on from their recent June party, which was the first-ever grime event to take place at Studio 338. The next Rinse night, on September 7th, celebrates the radio station's 25th anniversary, with the lineup still to be announced. For the first time, Studio 338 will put on live electronic performances, inviting artists such as Com Truise, Jan Jelinek, Princess Nokia and Francesco Tristano to start. Tinie Tempah is also down to host the first TBA date of Disturbing London's new residency. In another update, the venue is expanding its drum & bass programming and will host regular shows from the likes of Hospital Records, Critical Sounds, Kings of the Rollers and more. "We are undeniably one of the key spots for house and techno, but this next phase will allow us to explore other genres and influences, as well as different formats for parties and live shows," said Dan Perrin, the music and bookings director at the venue. "I see 338 as a multifaceted event space, and this new tranche of residencies and live programming will take us further in that direction." See Studio 338's calendar so far here.
