  • Flying Lotus is working on a Netflix show. The Los Angeles producer, real name Steven Ellison, will score and executive produce upcoming anime series Yasuke, which is part of a new push in the genre by the streaming giant, according to a new Deadline report. He'll work with LeSean Thomas, the series' creator, director and co-executive producer, who has also worked on The Boondocks and Black Dynamite. Lakeith Stanfield, who stars in the new film Sorry To Bother You and Donald Glover's series Atlanta, will voice the titular character. The show is "based on the historical samurai of African origin who fought with Oda Nobunaga," reports Deadline. Flying Lotus's film credentials already run pretty long. He released a notoriously gory feature film, Kuso, last year, and directed a short film, Skinflick, later in 2017. Earlier this year, he scored a Steven Soderbergh-produced sci-fi movie, Perfect, and in 2016, he scored a short film, FUCKKKYOUUU. Photo credit: Timothy Saccenti
