  • December 31st: Hands down the most special day in the year's partying calendar. Whether you're going out on the town, or staying in for a house party, it seems like every man, woman and child is out to maximise their enjoyment on the final night of the year. Sure, both high expectations and prices are the norm, but there's simply no arguing with the quality of parties going on over the New Year. Londoners are spoilt for choice this year, with a series of top nights pulling out all the stops to get you out onto their respective dancefloors. Secretsundaze, for example, have lured Johnny D over from Mannheim for his debut UK show at Village Underground, where he'll be joined by Detroit's Omar-S, whilst Eastern Electrics have teamed up with Mulletover and Man Make Music to bring you a secret warehouse party featuring Philipp from M.A.N.D.Y., Damian Lazarus, Tayo and Serge Santiago among many others. Bittersweet goodbyes more your thing? There's always Laurent Garnier, who will take over the main room at The End's last ever NYE. Elsewhere, Urban Nerds are aiming to get the city's dubstep fanatics over to Cordy Hall for a line-up that includes The Bug and Digital Mystikz's Coki. Whilst disco enthusiasts are especially well catered for, with Daniele Baldelli and Tim Sweeney playing at Horse Meat Disco's Cargo bash, whilst The Star Of Bethnal Green (Nathan Wilkins, Mark Seven, Gerry Rooney) and Home Bar (Thomas Bullock & The Off Key Hat) are hosting equally attractive propositions. Of course we can't forget about Fabric's two clubs, which are both hosting serious line-ups this year. Dixon, Âme and Matt Tolfrey all play the Charterhouse Street venue, and matter aims for more of an electro-house audience with sets from 2 Many DJs, Riton and Joakim. Speaking of big rooms, Danny Howells will be taking over Ministry of Sound for three hours this night, playing the superclub along with Above & Beyond, Sister Bliss and others. Finally, if your mind and body aren't damaged beyond the point of repair on New Year's Day, think about Circo Loco at The End: Matthias Tanzmann, Davide Squillace and Jamie Jones are all playing sets under the banner of the DC-10 institution, and it just might be the last time they do anything in the capital for a while due to The End's imminent closure.
