- The duo take to the decks again to celebrate their London party.
Giles Smith and James Priestley, the main men behind London's ever-popular Secretsundaze soiree, will present their second annual mix, the aptly titled secretsundaze Volume 2, in October.
If it's Sunday and you're in London during the summer, there's usually techno and house afoot in an outdoor area somewhere. For the past seven years, however, secretsundaze has done it in style, throwing some of the best parties that the capital has seen. Giles Smith and James Priestley are the residents and set the tone ably, mixing together contemporary tracks with classics from yore.
That much is apparent on Giles Smith's side of Volume 2 which utilizes some mid-'90s tunes from Motorbass and Ron Trent and Chez Damier to leaven the hyper-contemporary proceedings. But while Smith opts for the "house is a feeling"-esque vibe, James Priestley bangs it out with a spot of disco from Lindbaek, thicket house from Johnny D and Omar-S's undeniable "Psychotic Photosynthesis" to close things out. On paper, at least, the mixes seem to complement each other about as well as the duo do so in person.
