  • "'Big Monster' is trying to mix the techno sound with breaks, " says Baobinga & I.D about their debut longplayer due out this month. Baobinga & I.D are Mancunians Sam Simpson and Ed Bayling, whose self-described "emotive-techno-breaks" are as much inspired by pummeling loop techno as they are by the syncopated rhythms of the breaks scene. Both former drummers and ex-Indie fans (influences are My Bloody Valentine and The Pixies), Simpson and Bayling are perhaps, the unlikeliest of breaks heroes, preferring to look outside the genre for inspiration both as producers and DJs. After as many studio hours as cups of tea, this month the pair unwrap their first album, 'Big Monster', which brings together older B & I.D tracks such as 'Rite of Passage' and 'The Machine' with newer material including block-rockin' electronica ('Jewelz') and a collaboration with grime crew Virus Syndicate ('Jump Up Get Hype'). Tracklist 01. Carve Your Name 02. Recognise 03. Like An Arrow 04. South Manchester Weather 05. Jump Up Get Hype feat. Virus Syndicate 06. Jersey St 07. No Bright Lights 08. NY3.5 09. Rite of Passage 10. The Waterpark 11. Jewelz 12. Blue Green 13. The Machine 14. Into The Air 'Baobinga & I.D present Big Monster' is released on Fat! on November 26, 2007.
