Old school electro meets new school electro on the latest in the 'Kings of...' mix CD series. 'The Kings of Electro' is out later this month.
Following on from 'Kings of...' volumes covering reggae, techno, jazz, house, hip hop, disco and funk, London DJ Trevor Jackson, aka Playgroup, and Frankfurt duo Alter Ego step up to mix an electro volume.
The 2CD set features a electro history lesson from Jackson, and a more contemporary disc from Roman Flügel and Jörn Elling Wutkke. Jackson's mix runs through early NY B-Boy classics by the likes of Fearless Four and Dynamix 2, industrial electro (Chris & Cosey), Detroit (Model 500) and even the digital reggae of Junior Wilson. On disc two, Alter Ego explore more of the techno/electro divide with selections from labels such as Underground Resistance, M_nus, Planet E and Basic Channel.
