  • Digitalism promise to fuse dance and rock on their debut LP. 'Idealism' will be released in late May. Hamburg's Digitalism bill themselves as "dance music that makes people rock." For the past two years, they have been the go-to men for indie remixes, having reworked the Klaxons, The Test Icicles, Cut Copy and The Futureheads. Their first single was a reedit of The White Stripes' 'Seven Nation Army', and their second a jagged, makeshift cut called 'Idealistic', which scored them a deal with Paris label Kitsuné. But it's perhaps their third single on Kitsuné that remains their best known: 'Zdarlight' received strong support from the likes of Tiga, Tiefschwarz and The Glimmers and remains a club staple to this day. As London promoter Sean McClusky puts it: "Digitalism are as popular with indie kids as electro or techno clubbers." Their debut album promises rock-centric dancefloor cuts in the same vein. 'Idealism' includes the tracks 'Digitalism in Cairo', a reinterpretation of The Cure's 'Fire in Cairo', as well as rough and loose tracks such as 'Pogo' or 'Apollo-Gize', which owe as much to Joy Division or The Associates as Daft Punk and the like. You can preview 'Pogo' from the album at Digitalism's MySpace page. 'Idealism' tracklist 1. Magnets 2. Zdarlight 3. I Want I Want 4. Idealistic 5. Digitalism in Cairo 6. Departure From Cairo 7.
