  • Progressive house stable Renaissance hosts its fifteenth birthday bash at the Miami Winter Music Conference with label mainstay Hernan Cattaneo and a few surprise names. Cattaneo has released three compilations and one 12" on Renaissance, and the second volume in his 'Sequential' mix series is expected to drop in May, but he's not the headliner at the label's fifteenth anniversary party. That honour goes to Canadian electro cat and Turbo Recordings chief Tiga. An unlikely choice so RA asked Tiga what he knew about the long-running label: "When I first opened my record shop in 1994, one of the first items that really sold well was the first Renaissance double CD. I think we sold like thirty copies and I probably profited about four Canadian Dollars on each one so I figure Renaissance earned me in excess of 120 dollars. I used that money to buy my first microphone. The rest is dance music history. So, I figure I owe it to them to at the very least to accept their offer and play in Miami," says Tiga. Tiga and Hernan Cattaneo will be joined by electrohouse pairing Tiefschwarz, dark lord of electro DJ Hell as well as Pete Gooding and latest Renaissance signings Shlomi Aber and Neil Quigley. The Renaissance 15th anniversary party takes place at Karu & Y in Miami on Friday, March 23, 2007.
