Scottish techno wonder Alex Smoke brings his live act to Australia and New Zealand in January.
Fresh off the back of his ‘Sci-Fi-Hi-Fi Vol.3’ DJ mix for Soma and a killer remix of Junior Boys (which was voted #2 in our Top 5 remixes of 2006 poll), Smoke will be bringing his live act to four nights in Australia and one night in Auckland. The tour includes a Smoke live set at the huge outdoor Rainbow Serpent Festival in Victoria which is happening at the end of the month.
Though Smoke does DJ, the gigs will see him lugging his laptop and gear down under for live sets on this occasion. So what does Smoke think of his newfound status as an internationally gigging draw? "Rarely will anyone come up to you and say a bad word, so what you've got instead is people constantly walking up to you saying 'I like your latest single', 'I like your album', 'I like your hair', always saying nice things,” Smoke told Jonty Skrufff in May. “So you can easily get a totally skewed vision of yourself. If you accept that you can see how your ego grows and grows and eventually becomes totally unbalanced and you become a wanker." Get along to the gig then, but refrain from praising Alex!
