  • The End celebrates eleven years in the biz with a birthday bash this weekend. Layo & Bushwacka, Mr C, Will Saul, Sebo K and Phonique spin. London nightclub The End was set up back in 1995 after Layo Paskin and Mr C began throwing warehouse parties in an underground site on West Central Street that eventually became the club. Naturally, the music and the crowds have evolved over the years but the club continues to host some of the best night outs in London such as Bugged Out, Dig Deeper and Cocoon. Mr C told RA: "When we opened back in December 1995 there was only a very specific market for underground cutting edge dance music in London, which is a market we've nurtured. However, over the years the music has become more and more understood. Some of the younger kids have only ever heard the good shit from listening to it from their parents or older siblings so it's very natural for them to listen to cutting edge dance music. What this means is that the whole clubbing industry is out of short trousers now and actually understands what the music is all about. This has really helped the cutting edge clubs [like The End] big time because nowadays there's less risk for promoters putting on quality DJs." For its eleventh birthday bash, The End has lined-up some house favourites plus a few fresh faces: Mr C, Layo & Bushwacka! and the Dollz At Play spin in the main room while Simple Records, which will launch a new residency at adjoining sister club AKA in 2007, give a taster of things to come in the lounge with Will Saul and Berliners Phonique and Sebo K. The AKA hosts a live show from The Earlyman, plus DJ sets from Chicken Lips, Freeform Five Anu Pilla, Stan Fontan and Cosmo. So as The End heads into its teens, what does the future hold for the club and its owners? "As the saying goes, you're as old as the woman you feel and you're never too old to shake a leg, " says Mr C. The End's 11th birthday party takes place on Saturday, December 2, 2006.
