  • Debut longplayer for London duo Repeat Repeat is an album of wonky beats and minimal techno. 'Squints' is released on Soma Recordings next month. Repeat Repeat are vinyl addicts Dave Congreve and Mark Rutherford who met in the experimental electronica aisle of a London record shop. Their mutual love of off-kilter techno and acid house led them to the studio where they have since cranked out funky minimal techno cuts such as 'Bounce your Body to the Box' and 'Blippy'. Fans are Andrew Weatherall, Richie Hawtin and Damian Lazarus. With such a skewed outlook on techno it's only fitting that their debut album is titled 'Squints'. Rutherford explains: "We were interested in a distorted vision of dance music. We wanted the tracks to be current and relevant but didn't want them to sound the same as anything else." The pair are currently working on a live Repeat Repeat show which they envision as, "Two guys, laptops and stripped down versions that are going to be both bold and loose, allowing us to create live versions of the tracks and seeing where it goes. It could get tough, or it could get deep without ever losing the emotive nature of the album or its themes". Repeat Repeat 'Squints' Tracklist 1. Flip Flop 2. Loops and Boundaries 3. Crocodile 4. Carpark (Second Edition) 5. Squint Shapes 6. Wassily 7. Space in Between 8. Why Must 9. Glass 10. Home Stop Welcome First single off the album 'Why Must' is in stores already and comes with a remix from Gaiser of M_nus fame. Repeat Repeat 'Squints' is released on Soma Recordings on November 20, 2006.
