  • Berlin’s Tobias Freund, the mind behind the summer hit ‘Street Knowledge’, plays a live set at The Key in London. If you’ve been in a club the past few months, you’ve probably heard a very deep voice mysteriously intoning ‘Street Knowledge’ over a skipping house backbeat. One of the leftfield hits of the summer, the track is by Berlin native Tobias Freund, who has been producing underground house/techno (and engineering commercial music) for the past twenty-five years. Tobias has got his production fingers in more pies than most: he been making techno as Sieg Uber Die Sonne with Dandy Jack since the early nineties, he’s been releasing experimental cut up jazz on Luciano’s Cadenza label as , and he’s also got his solo project Pink Elln (don’t say the name to a German – it sounds rude) with which he makes improvised techno with the likes of Pier Bucci and Atom Heart. And now there is Tobias, which judging by the excellent four tracker ‘Street Knowledge’ comes from, looks like it’s a project for house with a techno attention to detail. Tobias will be bringing his rhythm boxes and laptop to The Key this Friday to perform a live set joined by residents Boris Horel and Greg Sonata. The promoters have said this will be their last Foreign Muck at the venue. Details about the new venue will be announced soon. Tobias plays The Key in London on Friday, October 13, 2006.
