  • Popular Manchester club Sankeys Soap will re-open as Sankeys the third weekend of September. Plump DJs and Linus Loves will be the first to spin... UK clubbing institution Sankeys Soap closed its doors earlier this year but will open again in September under the new name of Sankeys (does that mean no soap in the loos?). Party breaks duo Plump DJs, Scottish producer and Breastfed label co-owner Linus Loves, old hand Jon Carter and Sankeys favourite Greg Vickers headline the clubs opening weekend of parties. Since closing, Sankeys has undergone extensive renovations under the direction of David Vincent who has fully taken over the venue from his former business partner. Vincent is excited about the changes to the club and the fresh start. "This is a new beginning for us in Manchester. The club will be even more intimate and fun affair with a new third room, an outdoor garden, toilets with fun house mirrors and even a new entrance on Radium Street (off Jersey Street). There is obviously a lot more to come too, but that is all I am going to say for now." The new Sankeys will keep its former underground musical policy but Vincent says it will especially be looking to newer talent not associated with past club nights. "When you see our weekend line ups from September, you will see how many new artists will be making their Manchester debuts, and we at Sankeys are all very excited." Sankeys return is more good news for Mancunians. They'll be spoilt for choice from autumn when the new Warehouse Project also launches in October. Sankeys in Manchester opens again on Friday, September 22, 2006.
