  • Fabric cruise the seedy side of NYC nightlife with Rub N Tug mixing dirty disco and house on ‘Fabric 30’. The latest in Fabric's mix CD series will be out in the middle of September. The name derives from the Chinese massage-palace-cum-loft-space in New York where Rub N Tug perfected the art of the wild disco mashup. Rub N Tug are Eric Duncan and Thomas Bullock, who are not exactly the wallflower types by the sound of their parties. "We're into having a party. Music and having a drink and a good time. The first Rub N Tug night was a loft jam, a crazy night with forty cases of champagne on the fire escape, fights broke out while we scratched records. At one point T played the keyboard with his bare ass. You know that kind of party. That's how it started; may it continue as it began." These days the duo are also in demand as remixers, with everyone from !!! to Coldplay to Beastie Boys to Roxy Music to Zero 7 lining up to get rubbed and tugged. Hardly the stuff of you’d expect from NYC disco types, but Thom explains their choice of clientele: “I like the pop stuff but you’ve got to be into it. The reason that we took the Zero7 tune is because it was so bloody good.” On Fabric 30, shuffling disco and roaring house vie for attention, with the merrymaking sounds of voices whooping, feet stomping, hands clapping and glasses breaking practically audible in the background. Thom explains how he packed his box for the mix: “We just got into our record boxes and pulled out what we were playing at the moment, our favourite tunes from the current, what we’re into now. So basically it’s like a slice of a night a Fabric in a way.” Tracklist 01. Intro 02. Seven Deadly Strokes - Claude VonStroke (Neuton) 03.
