The Orb have re-released their 1991 ambient classic ‘Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld’ as a 3-CD or downloadable four-album set. The 15th anniversary deluxe edition of the album features new remixes and unreleased BBC sessions.
The original two-disc album is accompanied by a third disc featuring remixes of Orb tracks from Steve Hillage, Andrew Weatherall, Jimi Cauty & Dr. Alex Paterson. The album also features the 1989 Peel Session version of ‘A Huge Ever Growing Pulsating Brain That Rules from the Centre of the Ultraworld’, which was the most requested session in the history of John Peel’s show.
The download version also features a fourth disc featuring previously unavailable tracks from the Orb’s BBC sessions. The extra tracks are the product of a deal between Universal Records and BBC to make BBC archives available for release. The four-album version will be exclusively available from iTunes.
‘Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld’ is widely regarded as an early ambient techno classic. The album kicks off with the famous track ‘Little Fluffy Clouds’ which sampled the voice of Rickie Lee Jones to influential effect.
