  • Cheeky playboy Bob Sinclar returns to his Discotech residency at Turnmills in London to launch his latest longplayer ‘Western Dream’. Pencilled in for mid-July, the newie from the filter house maverick includes the mainstream summer chart smasher ‘Love Generation’ (which sold over one million copies worldwide, was a No. 1 hit in five territories, and stayed in the UK Top 100 for 25 weeks) as well as his latest Seal meets Roger Whittaker on holiday in the Caribbean anthem ‘World Hold On’. If the album is anything like the undeniable ‘Love Generation’ and ‘World Hold On’, the reggae sound of Jamaica is the latest grist for the Sinclar mill. The two tracks are also notable for making whistling fashionable again. Bob Sinclar first burst onto radars in 1998 in collaboration with Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter on the wry workout ‘Gym Tonic’, which grafted a sample from the fitness tapes of communist-cum-aerobicist Jane Fonda onto filter house to hilarious effect. Norman Cook called it "a lawsuit waiting to happen" and it proved to be so. The single was withdrawn from release. Always a musical magpie, in 2000 Sinclar shifted his attention to Africa. The first two volumes of ‘Africanism’ were perhaps a little too ahead of their time but ‘Africanism III’ eased up on the dark tribal house in favor of joy, calypso rhythms, and judiciously placed Afrobeat to infectious effect. Sinclar has been DJing since 1986 and the summer session at Turnmills promises to be a sweaty one. The Parisian on his DJ style: “The Bob Sinclar project is essentially aimed at the club scene. We want to get all the girls up there grooving on the dancefloor! The idea was to come up with a catchy musical gimmick so that people wouldn't get bored to death dancing to the same loop for six minutes.” Bob Sinclar will spin an extended four-hour set at midnight on Saturday, June 3 at Turnmills. Main room support comes from tech-house titan DJ Yellow and Hugo Bass. The full Gallic bill: Bob Sinclar - Part Deux: The Summer Session - Sat June 3 Room 1: Bob Sinclar (4-hour set) DJ Yellow Hugo Bass Room 2: Hosted by International DeeJay Gigolos David Caretta Play Paul Alex Mcculloch (Shafunkers) Bob Sinclar’s 'Western Dream' hits shelves on July 10, 2006.
