  • With summer showing signs of finally arriving in 2006, there’s nothing RA likes more than sitting in a good English boozer enjoying music provided by artists off the well worn mainstream track selected by innovative bookers. One such place that has caught our eye is The Old Queens Head in the heart of Islington. Programmed by Steve Blonde and Clive Morley the action takes place throughout the week with an acoustic night kicking off tonight with Jack Peñate, Kid Harpoon and Melanie George, before the much celebrated weekend rolls into action with music provided by The Glimmer Twins, Simian Mobile Disco, Scratch Perverts and Sean Rowley. One event that has RA dusting off our terry towelling one piece is Tayo’s Tracksuit Party on the Bank Holiday Sunday. Here is an outline of upcoming events: Old Queens Head May Highlights THURSDAY 4TH MAY - Acoustic Night – Jack Penate, Kid Harpoon & Melanie George. Friday 5th May - Scratch Perverts & Joe Ransom Saturday 6th May – Crackin Skullz Friday 12th May – Matt Actor (The Freestylers) Saturady 13th May – Sean Rowley (Guily Pleasures) Friday 19th May – Simian Mobile Disco V, The Glimmer Twins Satruday 20th May – Alvin & Riotous Rockers Thursday 25th May – Hundred Strong, Gum Drop Soundsystem FT, Randolph Mathews, Nick Lawrence, Tom Frain, Dom Frain.
