  • Barcelona is blessed with a plethora of clubs and parties, but it is the arrival of a new club that has locals excited. Promising musical diversity and no doubt showcasing sounds and artists from the European mainland, Raum (translated as 'space' in German) will launch tonight. Minimal sounds, sure, German influences, probably. Raum (located at Gran Via 593) has already lined up rising star record-companies that include Boxer, Areal and Mobilee together with artists like Richard Bartz, Basteroid & Metope. The sounds will be electronic based, but expect an encompassing fusion between techno and various other forms, like breaks as in the case with Virgin Helena from Croatia. Dates for the upcoming events (as well as tonight's opening party) for Raum's weekly Thursday nighter are listed below. Raum Barcelona Dates 27 April - Raum Opening with Richard Bartz and DJane Fengari 04 May - Boxer Recordings brings Duoteque and Ekkohaus 11 May - Residents Trick & Kubic 18 May - from Croatia Virgin Helena 25 May - Areal Records showcases Basteroid and Metope from Frankfurt Raum’s quest for European domination won’t end with the Catalan capital. As current interest in the German electronic sound continues to rise, it creates a variety of oppourtunities for promoters, clubs, artists and producers to infiltrate Europe’s leading venues as key players in the genre search for maximum response from the minimal audience. Barcelona’s new players are said to be talking with Tresor (Berlin) and Flex (Vienna), so watch this Raum!
