  • Yearning for a festival in an exotic locale? Had enough of white sandy beaches and desert isles? How about partying in an abandoned steel pit? Nine years in the running, Melt! is the premier Berlin indie-meets-techno festival. Located a convenient hop from Berlin, in Graefenhainichen, it's set in an award-winning location as likely to take your breath away as any boring old tropical paradise. "Indietronic" seems to be an ethos here with a diverse line up pitting the dance-punkier end of rock against the rockier end of dance music: The Gossip, Who Made Who, Art Brut, Infadels, and 2manydjs find common ground with Miss Kittin, Sid Le Rock, Ellen Allien, Jennifer Cardini, and Digitalism. "Song and tracks are equals," as the promoters put it. The festival features a solid lineup of local acts including Mia, Blumfeld, Ego Express, Isolee, Barbara Morgenstern, Wighnomy Brothers, Oliver Koletzki, Dominik Eulberg, Schneider TM, DJ Hell, Schneider TM, Mathias Kaden, as well as a diversity of international acts both known and unknown such as The Battles, The Streets, Herbert, Hot Chip, Nightmares of Wax, Jamie Lidell, Pet Shop Boys, Roni Size, Erland Oye, Moonbotica, Superdiscount, Who Made Who, and Nathan Fake. Melt! Festival, July 14th-16th, 2006. More acts to be announced.
