BPitch Control have released a new compilation 'Boogybytes Vol.01' mixed by Kiki full of special edits, mixes and interesting samples.
Based in Germany the Bpitch Control label was created in 1997 by Ellen Allien and has since showcased releases by artists including Kiki, Silversurfer, Tomas Andersson, Ben Klock, Paul Kalkbrenner, Sascha Funke and many more.
One of the first ladies of techno, Ellen Allien has often tried to incorporate artistic elements into a lot of the label's album and single sleeves and again the cover of 'Boogybytes' shows an interesting snapshot of Kiki shaking his head. Photographed by Axel Jansen, the idea came about after Ellen Allien invited Jansen to collaborate with the label on the album cover after seeing his 'shaking heads' exhibition.
Kiki (real name Joakim Ijäs) was born in Helsinki and started out in hip hop, exercising his skills on three decks and seamlessly mastering the art of mixing. He previously earned praise from the industry and music fans for his 2004 album 'Run With Me' and has released music on Crosstown Rebels, Great Stuff and CR2.
On 'Boogybytes Vol.01', Kiki experiments with digital mixing, digitally manipulating and layering around 25 or so tracks on top of each other. The album features a lot of key producers including Gabriel Ananda, Anja Schneider, Guy Gerber, Ame, Slam and of course Kiki. The mix should easily provide plenty of pleasure, either for post-club carry on or home listening.
