  • This month sees the release of Daniel Stefanik's "Bad Ass Mixes" on Matthias Tanzmann's Moon Harbour Recordings label. Moon Harbour Recordings is the Leipzig-based label which celebrated its fifth birthday last September with the release of the 'Five Years of Moon Harbour' compilation, mixed by label owner, DJ and producer, Matthias Tanzmann. Originally a label for the deep house excursions of Tanzmann and his various collaborative projects, in the past 12 months the label has built up a reputation for releasing quality minimal, dubby, deep cuts. Daniel Stefanik's "Bad Ass Mixes" is the twenty-third release for the label and features new mixes of the tracks 'Them People' (a collaboration between Tanzmann & Stefanik) and his own 'Move Me', both originally released on Moon Harbour. The new mixes have received heavy play from DJs including Josh Wink, Tobi Neumann, Mathias Schaffhäuser, David Duriez, Anja Schneider, Karotte, Martin Eyerer and Marc Romboy. Daniel Stefanik fell in love with Detroit techno in the mid-nineties and after DJing at various parties and clubs around Germany including Tresor, turned his attention to production. In addition to founding the netlabel Instabil, he has collaborated with Matthias Tanzmann on several releases as Tanzmann & Stefanik and is currently releasing music on Moon Harbour, Mobilee and Instabil. He can also be seen playing regularly at Leipzig's no.1 club, Distillery. Daniel Stefanik's 'Bad Ass Mixes' is out now through Moon Harbour Recordings.
