  • Expect a breakstastic night this Saturday at the fortnightly Leeds party Technique as Aquasky, Metric and Refunk join residents Kid Blue and McQueen. Dedicated to playing the best in electro, breaks, techno, house and everything in between Technique is the long-running fortnightly party at the Mint Club in Leeds which features rotating residents Meat Katie, Magda, Kid Blue, Dave Martin, Jay Kilka and McQueen. This Saturday sees veteran UK producers Aquasky, who have been mashing up hip-hop, breaks and drum and bass for the past ten years, make their Technique debut alongside a live set from rising breaks star Metric, known for his recent releases on Meat Katie's Lot49 label. Local Leeds producer Refunk (aka Jay Stewart), from En:vision sub-label Re:connect and whose track "It's Groovey" appeared on the Plump DJs Breakbeat Annual CD for Mixmag last year, will also be along to fly the flag for his fellow Loiners. Technique have two copies to give away of the Aquasky's album 'Teamplayers' featuring collaborations with the likes of Meat Katie, Elhornet, Tayo, Drummatic Twins and Autobots so check the Technique site for competition details. The March calendar also looks especially inviting for Technique when it celebrate its fifth birthday with two parties; one on March 11th at the Northern Lights featuring a live performance from Mathew Johnson and the other on March 18th at the Mint Club with Kompakt head honcho Michael Mayer.
