  • The Pulse Radio Group, known for their internet radio station and Pulse Digital Downloads has now opened its first physical outlet, located at iVinyl on Oxford Street in Mt Hawthorn, Perth. The concept behind the iVinyl store is to provide music enthusiasts with the speed, flexibility and convenience of digital music, without needing their own internet connection, computer or mp3 player. At the launch last weekiVinyl proprietor Brad Miller said “The store has really been a hit. People come in and select the tracks they want from whatever on-line store they want and can walk out with those tracks in whatever format they want. We’ve had people buy the licenses for a dozen tracks, burn them onto a CD, stick it into the CD player in their car and drive off with the music cranked up. Its cool, it’s easy and it’s legal.” “In a location like Perth where it’s difficult to get your hands on rare and breaking tunes, it’s the only way to go. People are able to get tracks online before they hit any other stores” Brad commented. The new downloads look set to challenge traditional record stores becuase few can stock a catalogue to compete with digital. Many of the promos are in 320kB club quality format and cost 1/3 of the price of a piece of vinyl, making the digital download option look very attractive. For those who can't make it along to the store in Perth, Pulse also operate Digital downloads directly from their website.
