  • On September 19th, the Dance Music Hall of Fame honoured its second annual round of inductees at an awards ceremony held at New York's Manhattan Center Grand Ballroom.

  • On September 19th, the Dance Music Hall of Fame honoured its second annual round of inductees at an awards ceremony held at New York's Manhattan Center Grand Ballroom, with the legendary François Kevorkian (aka François K) being honoured in both the "DJ" and "Remixer" categories. Formed in 2003, the Dance Music Hall of Fame recognizes the contributions of those who "have had a significant impact on the evolution and development of dance music and will celebrate the history and significance of dance music". Individuals become eligible for nomination 25 years after their first contribution to dance music or first record release. Although the awards should perhaps for clarity be called the U.S. Dance Music Hall Of Fame, RA is nonetheless pleased to report that the very worthy 'Class of 2005' inductees into The Dance Music Hall of Fame's are: Performing Artist: Chic, Gloria Gaynor, Sylvester; Records: Bee Gees “Stayin’ Alive”, Cheryl Lynn “Got To Be Real”, Chic “Good Times”, The Trammps “Disco Inferno”, Gloria Gaynor “I Will Survive”; DJ’s: François Kevorkian, Frankie Knuckles, John “Jellybean” Benitez; Producers: Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, Nile Rodgers & Bernard Edwards, Quincy Jones; Remixer: François Kevorkian The judges included the "influence and significance" of the nominees' contributions to the "development and perpetuation of dance music" in selecting the nominees in the categories of Performer, Producer, Record, Remixer and DJ. Over 1000 international dance music industry experts were then ballotted to select the inductees from the list of nominees.
