Aussie hip hop artist Morganics returns with his third solo album titled ‘Odyssey’, which is predicted to be his most accomplished release to date. Sydney based and award winning Morganics has performed around the world from Bondi Beach to the Bronx, the Sydney Opera House to Long Bay Jail, Wilcannia to Shibuya and many places between.
As a member of seminal Australian Hip Hop group MetaBass'n'Breath he toured Australia and the USA twice. Showcasing his mulit talented ability in 2002 he completed a follow-up solo tour of the states. Parallel to his career as an MC, Morganics is arguably Australia's foremost Hip Hop Theatre practitioner. His most recent work, "Crouching Bboy Hidden Dreadlocks" is one man Hip Hop Theatre show, which achieved sell out and critical success while touring to The Perth International Arts Festival, The Powerhouse in Brisbane and The Studio at The Sydney Opera House.
‘Odyssey’ was recorded on Morganics laptop whilst journeying around the country and “is an album of cinematic future funk that blends the outback to the metropolis. Clavinet, rimshots, cello and beat! box resonate in a sonic landscape that twists through time.”It features MC Collaborations with SistaNative, Butterfly, Wire MC, Brothablack and Local Knowledge as well as a few crazy noises from the kids in Numbulwar in Arnhem Land where much of the album was recorded. ‘Odyssey’ is released through Creative Vibes on 5th September.
