  • Over the past 12 months the prominence of digital only labels has come to the fore. Big name DJ’s are sighting CD’s as their preferred method of transporting music from gig to gig and as technology makes downloading music more accessible the relatively low overheads for just releasing music digitally makes both logistical and financial sense. This new format allows labels to take greater risks with music and sign a wider variety of artists so it comes as no surprise to hear HeatUK resident and founder of Six:Thirty Records Ian Betts commenting on the reasons for announcing his new sister label project Six:ThirtyDigital.com:
“Shortly after I set up Set up Six:Thirty is became obvious that there was a vast amount of unsigned talent out there with no outlet for their tracks. At the same time it’s becoming inevitable that DJ technology and digital music distribution will be soon be used by the majority of DJs. Six:ThirtyDigital.com will allow us to widen the range of music we can release while maintaining our excellent levels of quality control, so we can bring you more of this unheard music and continue to keep the scene fresh and vibrant. It will also enable us to provide good value music which meets the current demand for digitally distributed music as the global format of preference.”
All Six:ThirtyDigital releases will be available for buy as CD Singles and digital downloads as well as being available for compilation use. Six:Thirty Records will continue to sell tracks available as 12” vinyl.
