  • I was recently told by a friend that there is this huge festival going on in Manchester and now I am wondering why I had not heard of it. Dpercussion as the festival is named, started in the summer of 1997 and has been taking place ever since. Last year, attendance reached the 40,000 mark. This year they are expecting at least this amount. Dpercussion is now one of the biggest free multicultural festivals in the UK, playing host to some very well known acts. As it is a free festival the amount they can spend on advertising is very minimal if nothing, so that explains why I may not have heard of it before now. The Festivaltakes place in the Castlefield area of Manchester on this Saturday, 6 August. There will be eight stages as well as live street and art performances and also for people who like to see people risk injury, an extreme sport area. The line up looks amazing and extremely varied with something for everyone. It starts at 12 noon and finishes at 23:00. The partying does not finish there thought as the official after-party (or should I say after-parties) commence at around 22:00 hrs. You will find the main after-party at the Music Box on Oxford Street, which will close at 04:00, so there is plenty of time to let off some steam.
