  • It is a bit of a way ahead but well worth noting in the diary now that Goldie will be playing at the Prince of Wales on Friday 9 September in Melbourne. The party is presented by the Elementz crew who'll be balancing the lineup of old school heavyweight with some new young talent in the form of Subfocus and MC Lowqui. Goldie is famous as one of the earliest and best drum and bass/hardcore/jungle producers. His style has crossed paths such that he has performed alongside the likes of Beth Orton, Rage Against the Machine, Bjork and many more. He's even made films with parts in David Bowie’s film “Everybody Loves the Sunshine”, “Snatch” and the Bond Film “The World Is Not Enough”, as well as playing a gangster in the TV show 'EastEnders' and being a participant in the celebrity version of 'Big Brother'. Having gold teeth guarantees you a diverse career path. Back to the music though, Goldie’s DJ sets are exactly like the label he founded, Metalheadz. All styles are drawn into one melting pot and churned out into a visceral display of sound manipulation with the helmsman vacuuming the crowd into his experience. He is a class entertainer in his own right. The young producer/DJ Subfocus will be showing us the future of d'n'b as he is now established as the newest member of the Ram Records family. MC Lowqui is another new face and a new addition to Metalheadz. He is slowly carving his place in the fickle London d'n'b scene and will bring a style that crosses both the traditional and the new to the Melbourne crowds.
