  • Yes. Another classics album. This time from the superclub and brand name that basically defined euphoric trance.

  • Given the considerable scaling down of the UK trance scene in recent years, it's not often that we think way back to 1993 when Gatecrasher, a small town club in the UK's West Midlands, first opened its doors. Responsible for the worldwide explosion of euphoric trance, the Sheffield club and dance music brand went on to go through an incredible period playing host to a sizeable chunk of the world's leading DJs and peaking in the late 90's with an endless stream of international events, tours, parties, festivals and every other form of clubbing experience known-to-man. What goes up, must come down and of course Gatecrasher's glory days are well and truly a thing of the past; that period of rapid ascension and seemingly endless upward spiraling no longer the case, despite the occasional big party at gargantuan UK venues like the 10-20k capacity NEC arena. Those of us who were once 'Crasher kids' and have now grown up but occasionally seek those nostalgic Gatecrasher days of old might be interested in re-living that period in dance music history again via the "Gatecrasher Classics" compilation, which has just been released. Yeah...it is another classics album but given it's from the superclub and brand name that basically defined euphoric trance, created a whole new generation of dance music fans and brought new meaning to the word 'anthem', it has all the artists and E moments you'd expect. Tracks from the 'big four' - PVD, Tiesto, Ferry & AVB - are of course on the album in addition to many of the tunes that literally brought hundreds of thousands of new clubbers to the dance music movement. You can check out the trailer for Gatecrasher Classics here which, as well as flooding back those good ol' trance moments that you had long since forgotten, also has the voice-over master Pete Tong on the narration.
