  • The northern hemi's Summer is in full effect and with it come the endless number of international festivals. Sven Väth's annual Love Family Park from Hanau in Germany promises to be an absolute corker this year as they look to celebrate 10 years. Sunday 3rd July is the date for Love Family Park which this year celebrates its 10 birthday with a big splash. In 1996 the festival began with just two DJs, Sven Väth and DJ T., playing in Dunlop Park. In 2002 the festival moved to Mainwiesen (the meadows by the river Main) and has continued very successfully in its new home since. This year sees a line-up which includes Sven Vath, Turntablerocker, Richie Hawtin, Ricardo Villalobos, Tiefschwarz, Tobi Neumann, Heiko M/S/O, Michael Mayer, Andre Galluzzi, Frank Lorber, Toni Rios, Chris Zander, Meat and Seebase. The festival is an open-air event held in fields at Mainweisen Hanau, about an hour north from Frankfurt by train, and runs from 10am until 10pm... and of course, Continental-style, there is an official afterparty at the legendary Robert Johnson / MTW club in Offenbach, just outside of Frankfurt itself. Last year's event saw a number of shady-looking refugees flying in direct from Sonar and this year expect the weekend techno trail to lead there directly from the Awakenings festival being held in Amsterdam on Saturday 2nd July. RA can highly recommend this festival after our experience there last year ...the laid-back vibe and family atmosphere combine with some great techno sets to make for a great day (and night) out. Tickets cost €25.00 (+ booking fee) or 30 Euros from the box office. For more ticketing and travel information, check the festival's website. One word of practical RA advice - traveling by road is not recommended but if so allow extra time for the journey as the police often form roadblocks to search cars coming to the festival.
