  • Missed out on Glastonbury tickets? Not to worry ...RA brings news of the dates and full line-up of the second annual Glade Festival after the organisers of The Glade stage at Glastonbury decided to put on their own festival for the first time in 2004. Last year's 5,000-capacity event sold out and received plaudits from punters across the board for the professionalism of the staging, the music and the friendly vibe, or - as the organisers themselves put it - "cutting edge dance music ... but it's not just about the music". A great deal of time and thought is once again going into ensuring the same atmosphere is created again with an emphasis on decorations, visuals, marketplace, and wandering entertainers. Capacity has only been increased to 8,500, in an attempt to maintain last year's friendly vibes and chilled-out ambience. The festival will be held at an as-yet-unannounced location which will be "about an hour from London" (RA has inside info that it will be not far from Newbury) and stretches over 3 days from Friday 15th - Sunday 17th July, with stages opening up in the early afternoon and carrying on until the early hours of each morning. The success of last year's event has resulted in an even stronger line-up of DJs and live acts keen to participate and sample the atmosphere of this year's festival. Headlining the main dance tent are Sasha,Richie Hawtin, AFX(aka Richard D. James aka The Aphex Twin), Carl Craig, Speedy J, Paolo Mojo, live act Infusion, Two Lone Swordsmen (aka Andrew Weatherall and Richard Fearless), Squarepusher and The Bays - amongst others. Breaks heads are catered for in the Breaksday tent with a jaw-dropping array of talent including live performances from Atomic Hooligan, Rennie Pilgrim & the TCR Allstars and sets from Jody Wisternoff, Hybrid, Paul Arnold (of Chew the Fat fame), Soul of Man, Tayo and the Breakfastaz. Jimmy K-Tel and Matt Brown will be hosting the Sancho Panzo tent with guests Layo & Bushwacka! whilst those who like their electronica a little on the avant-garde side will find themselves in the Littlebig tent where Warp, Rephlex and Planet Mu artists will be doing their thing. As might be expected the Origin stage is featuring a heavy-duty roster of psy-trance performances led by Hallucinogen (aka Simon Posford) - who, RA hears, may also be showcasing Shpongle's new album with his partner-in-crime Raja Ram in the ID Spiral Chill tent.
