While everyone’s waiting excitedly for the arrival of summer before easy-jetting over to Ibiza to party to the latest tunes, a few Ibiza residents have been busy getting together and pooling their music resources, leading to the setting up of the first ever English dance radio show on the island. And about time too.
What started off as a couple of hours every weekend to play the less commercial side of dance music has now become a daily two-hour instalment. Aptly called B-Sides Session, the idea is to play tunes that never make it to the mainstream. The show is hosted by the predominantly Brit crew, led by Miyagi, together with Francis Lorenzo and Jon Rasta. Support is coming not only from the English-speaking audience, but the Spanish listeners are lapping it up as well, so much so that, Flaix Ibiza 105.0 fm have rewarded the boys for their hard work and ingenuity by extending their Friday and Saturday sessions to 1am.
With the opening parties just around the corner, B-Sides Session is gearing itself up for a hectic summer schedule where it will showcase on air pre-parties and information about clubbing on the island. It’s also extending its dance show to a ‘live’ link with a soon-to-be-announced artist and record label. The boys have to be applauded for their creativity and any of you bound for the island come summer, don’t forget to tune in to B-Sides Session.
