  • February is a big month for Agent Mad as they present Japanese hip hop supremo DJ Krush on February 4 and then a huge lineup of drum'n'bass and breaks at 33&1/3 on February 25. One of the headliners of that event will be breakbeat DJ Freq Nasty (NZ/UK) with his Video Nasty Experience Soundsystem, mentioned recently in RA news. Freq describes his video show as “the visual equivalent of Michael Moore and Public Enemy getting pissed on the set of Monsters Inc. during an anti-globalisation riot.” Representing for drum'n'bass will be DJ Zinc (UK) and DJ Klute (UK). Dj Zinc is well known for starting the legendary True Playaz with Hype and Pascal, (now one of the most successful independent d&b labels). He also produced a speaker-busting bootleg of The Fugees “Ready Or Not “ that supershot him across dance floors everywhere. As for his DJ sets, they're jammed with depth-charge bass, crystal-tipped breaks and memorable, mysterious night-world melodies, covering hard soul slow-jams, laid-back girl singers and MC Chaos. DJ Klute aka Tom Withers, has been a fixture on the drum and bass scene for over 10 years, lending his creativity to the likes of Metalheadz, 31 Records and his early stable Certificate 18. Klute's most recent long player “No-one is listening anymore” on Commercial Suicide is out now. Freq Nasty, Klute and Zinc will be supported by Melbourne's Brewster B and DJ Sean. The party is on at the Prince of Wales, St Kilda. Doors open at 10pm. Tickets are on sale now for $45 +bf from all the usual outlets including Ticketmaster7 online or ph: 136 100.
