That’s right Perth people it’s that time of year once again! So what do you have planned for NYE 2005, apart from joining the gym and giving up smoking (yeah right that’s gonna happen)? RA has looked deep into Perth’s crystal ball and done the hard work for you, selecting the best events.
What West Aussie doesn’t love the beach, and this year ‘Resolution’ brings the surf and some crankin tunes to the Cottesloe Civic Centre. Headlining this year's Resolution will be none other than German house maestro Ian Pooley. Universally considered one of the world's finest DJs, Pooley has made his name by producing a trademark brand of Latin infused house music which is loved by music fans around the globe.
Complementing Ian Pooley and James Dela Cruz will be three of Western Australia's finest performing outfits; our own percussive pioneers Rhibosome, well known DJ Dan Stinton (joined by the deluxe vocals of Miss Randa K) and local lads Karl Carosella and Mark Abbott, who will be uniting for a DJ/percussion set.
But it won't purely be the tunes that will make Resolution the finest place to be this New Year's Eve. Laze around in the cosy daybeds, sipping from a colossal selection of classy cocktails while being captivated by the street performers and amazing light show complementing the natural beauty of the venue. NYE in the west just wouldn’t be the NYE without the rise and as usual it will be ringing in the new year in style, residents Simon Barwood and John Paul will be pumping out the sounds that have made Rise Perth’s #1 dance club for as many years as I care to count. With its huge dancefloor and awesome lighting rig the Rise stands to deliver once again a night to remember.
What would the New Year be without the staple of ‘Sunshine People’ with artists such as Andy C and MC GQ alongside regular visitor Shimon and Wildchild on the Motorola Outside Stage you can expect a special sundown live performance from Crazy Penis with some beautiful house beats either side from France's Cassius and DJ Falcon and then topped off with sets from breaks maestro's Adam Freeland and DJ Deekline ... over in the Plastik Arena you have the long awaited return to Perth of James Zabiela as well as Germany's Oliver Lieb and the return of Miss Kittin..
