  • On Friday 13 August at the Metro, the judges will be determing the fate of several turntablists as they battle it out at the 2004 DMC Technics World DJ Championships Australian finals. The state finals are finished with one competitor chosen to represent each state. Reigning champion Staen 1 from Adelaide will back to defend his crown, in a bid to get his hands on the first prize of two of the brand-new Technics DZ-1200 CD turntables, plus a ticket to the World Finals in September. Also on the night will the finals of the 2004 Team Battle, with Melbourne's Dirty Duo (J-Red and Selekt) taking on Sydney's Decknicianz crew for the national title. Playing live on the night will be Muphin, Plutonic Lab and DJ FX, with more special guests to be announced. The hosts for the evening are Reason (Obese Records) and Maya Jupiter (Triple JJJ). There will also be a breaking show courtesy of the BurnCity Bboys and Freshsox crew. The all-star judging panel are rumoured to be treating us to a six-deck finale to showcase some of their battling skills and D-vise will be doing a routine on the Technics CD players. The evening is set to be a spectacular night with all this local Hip Hop talent along with DJ 's D-Vise and Selekt on the decks, and an after party in the Gods bar. For the punters, there is also a door prize of a brand new Technics SL1210 M5G turntable and one of the new Motorola e398 phones that will be going home with one lucky patron.
