  • Private Function returns to Two Floors Up in the Melbourne CBD on Saturday 21 August, with a special guest in tow. They've invited US producer/DJ Habersham to play, and you can expect a set that will cross the boundaries of house, breaks and progressive, with that unique, original Habersham sound, from quirky and funky, to deep and minimal, from dark and dirty to twisted. In case your not too familiar with the name, but it is ringing some bells, Habersham and production partner Numinous are Atlanta-based and the people behind the label Blueprint. Their debut release was "Rhetorical Question". Habersham hooked up with Phil K at last year's Miami Winter Music Conference, and Miami local Dave Preston to write together 'Furball', released under the name 'The Operators'. The track has so far been licenced to at least four recent compilations (including Keltec's mix on the new 'Future Breaks' CD, and also Way Out West's forthcoming mix compilation) and who knows how many more. Habersham also caught Dave Seaman's attention, who used Habersham's 'Transparent Sound' as the opening track on his recent Audio Therapy compilation, and licenced it (along with 'Follow The White Rabbit') to Audio Therapy for release. Habersham also has a show on Proton Radio. Habersham will be playing a three hour set at PF, with support from the residents Gavin Martin, Aaron Roach, Dean Millson and Sasha Petrovic, along with Dark Beat's 'Rollin Connection'. Tickets will be $20 on the door or $15 if you register for the guestlist at privatefunction.tranzfusion.net. The venue will be limited to a 250 people capacity so the promoters advise you get down to the club early, as guestlisting does not guarantee entry.
