  • Eddie RichardsFabric has changed tac with their latest ‘Fabric 16: Eddie Richards’ album release, wound back the clock and looked to the future all in the one decision to give Eddie Richards the chance to express himself through the mix. A DJ who has rocked a wide variety of parties, with a tireless array of sounds Eddie has being given the chance to express his 2004 sound in his commercial mix CD debut through one of the worlds leading longplayer labels. Having being in the business for over 20 years and in that time produced countless white labels, it was always Eddie’s vigorous support of the smaller parties that lends himself to immense popularity throughout the scene. Although billed on big line-up’s Eddie was known to encourage ‘larger’ name DJ’s to take a price cut, play at the smaller parties and take it all back to its roots – the music. Speaking about this Eddie says:
"I think I was the first to give other people a chance. Terry [Francis] was on our [agency's] books and I couldn't get him a gig because no-one knew who he was. People got greedy. DJs got greedy. The scene got really big and they started asking for more money, and they weren't interested in playing for the small clubs that had helped build their reputations. They could play bigger places and I was disappointed with the whole thing. There was too much ego, too much greed. I didn't want to start an agency: in fact, I asked other people to do it. But no-one would so I did. It needed to be done. I ended up doing accounts for most of the time, and working for everyone else except me, for no thanks, and no fucking money."
An exciting prospect lies ahead indeed with a twisted Tech-house Fabric release in the works.
