  • Earthdance, the annual Global Festival for Peace which coincides with the UN World Peace Day will take place on September 20 in Federation Square, Melbourne. The event will run from 11am until 8pm, and will be the first ever free outdoor electronic event in the heart of the CBD, Federation Square. On Saturday September 20, Melbourne will unite with 120 events in over 50 countries, creating the world’s largest synchronised dance festival for World Peace. Earthdance Melbourne was initiated in 1998 and has since developed from a nightclub event to a free daytime music festival. Last years Earthdance party at Gasworks Arts Park attracted more than 3000 people, and was an incredible creative success. This years event looks set to be even bigger! Earthdance Melbourne’s continuing force is to create positive opportunities for young people through music, art and performance. In 2003, Earthdance moves to the high profile location of Federation Square, and will create a one-day music festival showcasing a broad range of electronic live acts and DJ’s as well as gifted performance artists. There will also be a Tibetan Market. The decor will be by Voodoo and Sioux, and Amanda King. VJ Mandala will be doing visuals. The full event will also be broadcast live on SYN FM 90.7FM and RMITV Earthdance Documentary will be filmed on the day. Earthdance is a free entry event, open to all ages.
