  • Kate Simko and her London Electronic Orchestra have crafted their debut LP, which is scheduled to land in May. Clued-in fans know Simko, a Chicago native now living in London, not just as a DJ and producer, but as a classically trained pianist, composer and film scorer. In 2014, Simko completed a master's degree at London's Royal College of Music. During her time there she began experimenting with bringing together electronic music and classical instrumentation, and those pursuits led to the formation of the London Electronic Orchestra, or LEO. Now a seven-piece group, LEO comprises Simko, Essi Kiiski and Kamila Bydlowska (violin), Zoe Saubat and Deni Teo (cello), Valeria Kurbatova (harp) and Nina Harries (bass). LEO has played some live shows, and the group teamed with Jamie Jones and Jem Cooke on a single last fall. Now they're gearing up for the release of their first studio album, which will come through The Vinyl Factory. An international tour is in the works for this year, as well. Though details on the full-length are scant, we'll get a first taste with the Tilted EP, which features a remix from Seth Troxler and Phil Moffa's LSOS. It's set to drop in late February and for now you can stream its title track below.
