  • Mm Studio will release Good Star Dubs via Album Label on March 4th, 2016. The somewhat unexpected full-length stems from a week-long collaboration between Tadd Mullinix and Shitkatapult owner Daniel Meteo that took place in 2007. Mullinix, the Ann Arbor producer known as JTC, Dabrye and Charles Manier, came to Berlin-based producer Meteo with the idea of making mid-'80s style digital dub, looking back to the "Sleng Teng" riddim and Sly & Robbie's production from that period, among other influences. The press release says "Mullinix and Meteo mixed down about 15 tracks of original dub beats that included handmade recordings of guitars, organs, keys, off-beats, and melodies with plenty of echoes, delays, and drop-outs," the feel of which captured "the vintage character of the Berlin studio," that they inhabited. Up until now, only a couple of these tracks have been available publicly: "The Good Star Dub" appeared on Modeselektor's Modeselektion Vol. 01 compilation and "Digidubx" appeared on 2014's Werkschau 03 collection on Shitkatapult.
