  • Vessel will release an EP on Erased Tapes in collaboration with Immix Ensemble. Immix Ensemble is the alias of Australian saxophone player and composer Daniel Thorne, while Vessel is Bristol's Seb Gainsborough, who releases abstract electronic music for labels like Tri Angle and Liberation Technology. Gainsborough's last album, 2014's Punish, Honey, featured several of his own homemade instruments, while Transition has its own fixation on instrumentation. This time, the idea is old instruments, and how, since they are "rarely updated and modified," they can give us an idea of what life was like back when they were invented. Each track on Transition takes one or two of these instruments as its focus and explores an important invention that happened around the time it was made. Some of the equipment the duo use reportedly dates back to 1500 BC. Listen to lead track "What Hath God Wrought?" below.
