  • Renowned digger Chee Shimizu has started a new project, Japanism, whose aim is to shine light on obscure Japanese music. Shimizu is working on Japanism in partnership with HMV Japan. First up is a 7-inch with two tracks from Colored Music, an outfit led by Ichiko Hasimoto and Atsuo Fujimoto and backed by a cast of supporting musicians. The band's 1981 album, Colored Music, came out on Better Days—the same Nippon Columbia-affiliated label that originally issued Mariah's Utakata No Hibi, one of 2015's most popular reissues. Both songs on the 7-inch, "Colored Music" and "Heartbeat," have been re-edited by Shimizu, who runs Organic Music. Tracklist A Colored Music (Club Edit) B Heartbeat (Club Edit) Japanism will release Colored Music in March 2016.
