Netherlands venue Woodstock'69 has been badly damaged by fire.
The blaze means the venue's opening party, which was planned for March 25th, will not go ahead. At about 7 PM on Monday, January 18th, fire swept through Camping Bloemendaal, where the venue is located. The blaze destroyed all of Woodstock'69's equipment, which was in storage for winter. Several beach houses were also destroyed. The fire's cause is still unknown.
When contacted by RA, Woodstock'69 provided the following statement: "The fire department did everything in their power to save things but unfortunately everything went up in flames. Police and a forensics team are searching the site but for now we can't make any statements about the cause of the fire. Fortunately nobody was injured. We want to thank everybody very much for all the support, compassion and all help offered. This gives us a huge boost and it's really heartwarming."
They add: "The preparations for the upcoming season were already in full swing and construction was about to begin. The whole team is hard at work to let Woodstock69 arise from their ashes as soon as possible. But unfortunately, due to this setback, we will not be able to meet out opening date on March 25th."
Woodstock'69 will provide updates on the situation through their website. The club is a popular destination for summer clubbers in the Netherlands. It's billed as "part beach, part nightclub," and is open every day between April and September. Located at the Bloemendaal Aan Zee roughly 30 km from Amsterdam, its most recent summer season saw DJs like Dixon, tINI, Baby Ford and Hunee touch down for slots.
