  • Gilles Peterson's Brownswood Recordings is releasing a remix compilation of Cuban music titled Havana Club Rumba Sessions. Due out March 11th, the compilation features remixes from the likes of Motor City Drum Ensemble, Max Graef & Glenn Astro, Pépé Bradock and a host of South London producers including Mo Kolours, Tenderlonious and Al Dobson Jr. The artists have put their own spin on three different strains of rumba music: guaganco, yambu and columbia. The compilation is just one part of Peterson's rumba project, which has been funded by Cuban rum maker Havana Club. There's also a free sample pack and a feature-length documentary that traces the roots of rumba music. Listen to Motor City Drum Ensemble's remix of "The Rumba Experiment" below.
